Description

My client the Bonavero Institute of Human Rights (based in the University of Oxford), is looking to commission a physical piece of creative and engaging artwork to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Universal Declaration of Human Rights. "The Institute is dedicated to fostering world-class research and scholarship in human rights law, to promoting public engagement in and understanding of human rights issues, and to building valuable conversations and collaborations between human rights scholars and human rights practitioners."

The commissioned artwork will appear on the front cover and inside of their 'Annual Highlights' digital brochure (along with a bio of the artist), and the actual piece will be hung alongside previous artworks (see attached examples) at the Institute. The colour palette from the piece will be sampled throughout the brochure to ensure design consistency.

The approved piece of artwork will need to be supplied in both digital format (high resolution 300dpi scan) and the physical piece will be delivered to the Institute (courier costs will be covered by the Institute). Once completed and paid for in full, the copyright for the commissioned artwork will transfer to the Bonavero Institute.

Format wise it must either be a proportion of a landscape A size (the digital size of the digital brochure), so A2 or A1 or we can accept square format pieces between 50cm minimum and 100cm maximum.

  • Acceptable mediums on canvas: oil, watercolour, pastel, mixed media (no AI generated imagery will be considered)
  • Budget for the artist is: £1,500 (plus delivery costs)
  • Deadline to deliver the initial sketches: Monday 3rd June
  • Feedback and suggested amendments: Monday 10th June
  • Final delivery of the digital scanned artwork: Friday 21st June
  • Delivery of the physical piece of artwork: TBC during July or August, less time critical.
