Hollegha arquitectos
- architectural office
About
Hollegha arquitectos was founded by Austrian architects Brigitte Hollegha and Daniel Hollegha, in 2002. Both of us have been studying in Vienna and Madrid.
After working at Central University of Venezuela in Caracas and later at an international office in Tokyo, we settled in Madrid. Since then, our built work has been covering quite a wide range of small public buildings, single family houses and different design and engineering projects, among them the development of four different observation platforms for regional governments in Castilla y León and Galicia.
The basic aim in our work, irrespectively of the size and circumstances of the project, is to get to simple, logical and functional solutions, counting on good ideas rather than big budgets. For us, the central question in architecture is: What do I need / what do I NOT need? This question includes decisions concerning the selection and use of materials, space efficiency, technical equipment, maintenance, and of course, design. If we base architectural concepts on necessities, the result will be a clear, honest and logical type of architecture. In our projects, sustainability is not about high technology, nor is it an attempt to go back to the roots. It is about finding the proper answers to emerging questions, and finding the right balance between contrasting concepts like costs and resource consumption.
