I had the joy - and have memories of many small and intense encounters with her: Ilse Thoma. Analog black and white photography was her proffession and passion. One of our encounters I painted from memory. It was not important to me to reproduce her foto-realistic or to capture the frame of their life. Her alert expression, her eyes are remembered - as well as her sensitivity and directness with which she met people. My rendition of her person referred to it beyond - and was at the same time a challenge - to create an analogous seeming picture. The transition from color to black and white - equal to their wonderful, great moment shots of women - family - fishermen etc. ... Ich hatte die Freude - und habe Erinnerungen an viele kleine und intensive Begegnungen mit ihr; Ilse Thoma. Analoge schwarz/weiß Fotografie war ihre Profession und Leidenschaft. Eine unserer Begegnungen habe ich aus der Erinnerung gemalt. Ihr wacher Ausdruck, ihre Augen sind mir in Erinnerung geblieben - ebenso wie ihre Sensibilität und Direktheit mit der sie Menschen begegnete. Meine Wiedergabe ihrer Person bezog sich darüber hinaus - und war gleichzeitig eine Herausforderung - ein fast analoges Bild zu schaffen.
