This one was more like an accident: after my brother sent me some pictures from his Safaris in South Africa I worked a lot on lion anatomy. With this piece I wanted to practice facial expressions of the animal without distorting too much of its natural proportions. Then I wanted to give my viewers a little bit more interpretation for a story. So I added my main character from my own Graphic Novel to it and created the scene with all attributes needed for my viewer to read but without losing too much time working out every single element.
