Angels Rising (Wriggle Sisters)
'Angels Rising' - 20 years ago (1999) I spent a week in Cairo... pyramids, museums, food, markets, heat, desert, architecture, dancers, music - 'sensory delights' and memories that will stay with me for life. I lost a film, that I know, had some of the best photos I have ever taken on it, and yes, tears welled-up. Angels Rising is simply the title of a work that might be seen as twin sisters engaged in a 'wiggle-dance'. They are in fact composite characters, in part, drawings I made from beach stones found in Greece... wings made from white doves, eyes made from a fireworks box wrapper I found, discarded in a Cairo market. The bodies are, in part, sourced from ancient sculptures and the poses taken from ancient Egyptian wall paintings. My artworks can be printed on a variety of materials and have the potential to be produced in a range of sizes, including large scale production. I have 1000+ artworks in my portfolio - the majority were made in the past 4 years. Many can be viewed on my website www.coldwellandcoldwell.co.uk My artworks appear in Galleries, Corporate and Private Spaces, used as Illustrations for Printed and Digital Media applications (Books, Magazines, Advertising and Web) - Commissions Considered
